Michael Karam

Michael Karam was born in London in 1965 to Lebanese parents. He is a journalist and wine writer, who turned his hand to more lighthearted stuff as the co-author of Life's Like That and Life's Even More Like That (Turning Point), illustrated books that poke harmless fun at the Lebanese.

His wine writing has appeared in Decanter, Harpers Wine Weekly, Monocle and The Spectator, while he has written on Lebanese affairs for The Times and Esquire. He is a contributor to Jancis Robinson’s Oxford Companion to Wine (Oxford University Press) and the award winning Wine Report (Dorling Kindersley). He is the author of Wines of Lebanon (Saqi), which won the Gourmand Award for the Best New World Wine Book, 2005; Arak and Mezze: The Taste of Lebanon (Saqi), which was shortlisted for the Gourmand award for Best Food and Travel Book 2007, and Château Ksara: 150 years of wine making 1957-2007 (Vinehouse). In 2010, he published Michael Karam’s Lebanese Wines 2011 (Vinehouse). He lives in Beirut with his wife and two children.
